With the exception of the Event Browse view, which looks and behaves very much like ProofStation, all the views in SID are in the form of tables of data and there are a number of common features in how they behave which are covered here.
Most views have context menus with the most common actions for that view. That is a pop up menu that appears when you right click on an item or items.
Column sizes can be adjusted by dragging the borders of the column header. The column sizes are remembered when the program is next run.
Multiple items are selected by using the standard windows mouse clicking conventions. Control Clicking adds or removes items from the selection. Clicking an item and then Shift Clicking another will select all items between the two clicked items. One of the windows in the status bar at the bottom of the program window displays a count of how many entries are currently selected.
TIP: To find out how many orders there were in a particular day, click the Order Date column header to sort by order date, click the first order on that date, shift click the last order on that date, the number of orders on that day will be displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the window.
The order of the display (the sort order) can generally be controlled by clicking in one of the column headers (the column titles). Not all columns are active in this way but most of the obvious ones are. Clicking a column header once will sort in ascending order, clicking the same column again will change the sort to descending order.
Clicking another column will make that column the primary sort and the previous clicked column will be the secondary sort. clicking another column again will make that column the primary sort and the previous one the secondary and the previous to that the tertiary, and so on. What this means is that the data is sorted first by the primary column, then if there are any entries with exactly the same value (for example the same date) the sort will shift to the secondary column, again if there are any exact matches in that column the sort will shift to the tertiary column.
For example: in the Event Browser View. If you click first on the Name, then the Event and then the order Date, the orders will all be sorted by order date, then for each particular date the orders will be sorted by event and for each event they will be sorted by the customer's name. Try it - it is easier to use than to explain!
Searches can be run in virtually all views. For details of searching see Find in the Edit Menu page. A search is run by selecting the Edit - Find menu option or clicking the
button. The search results are displayed by redrawing the display with only the matching entries displayed. They will be displayed in green as a reminder that you are only viewing search results. Selecting the Edit - Find menu option or clicking the
button again will return the display to all entries.
TIP: A quick way to find a particular order is to use a barcode scanner to scan the barcode on an order form directly into the search text to get the encoded order reference. The same can be done from an order leader page to get the transaction ID.
